Fun in the snow!!!

From all the comments and pictures on Facebook the snow outing this past weekend was a major success. Congratulations to all those that partook and to the adults that made it happen.

Keep an eye open on the CPC BSA website for upcoming training opportunities. Todd Macdonald is working at organizing a major Outdoor Skills training weekend at Camp Meriwether this fall.

This is all I have for now so, until the next time, remember “Do a Good Turn daily”.

Greetings Troop!

The firearms training that was planned for February has unfortunately been cancelled! We regret having to do so but changes to the curriculum by the NRA neccessitated the decison. We are still waiting for confirmation on some of the details for one of the courses.

The good news is that there will be training for Rifle, Shotgun and Blackpowder Instructors in September. These are courses for people that are 21 years old or older and have completed their Basic Courses in Rifle, Shotgun, or Blackpowder. It is currently projected to be held the weekend of September 22-24 at Camp Meriwether. The Blackpowder course will start on Friday morning so any one taking that class will need to be there Thursday night. I don’t know of anyone in the troop that has their Blackpowder Basic course done. If you have not completed a Basic course in Rifle or Shotgun and wish to take the Instructor Course please contact Jon Niehaus, Troop Committee menber, and he can assist you in completing the basic course.

I hope that the snow outing on Mt Hood is a great success!! Good luck and stay dry.

Class Cancellation :(

Unfortunately the CPC Shooting Sports Committe has to cancel the firearms classes that were previously scheduled to take place next month, February. There were some last minute changes made by the NRA Training Department that havev caused us to revamp our lesson plans and curriculuii. We will have another training session in September and I will do my best to keep you informed of any announcements.

For our parents that shoot

Cascade Pacific Council’s Shooting Sports Committee will be doing three firearms training sessions at Camp Merriwether on Feb 17 to 19, 2017. One of the trainings will be Pistol Instructor for those adults that have already passed the Basic Pistol course by the NRA. The other training sessions will be Basic courses for Rifle and for Shotgun. These are NRA courses and are pre-requisites for taking the Rifle Instructor or Shotgun Instructor rating courses that will be offered in future sessions.

Further information will be available on the CPC website under Training closer to the dates (probably about mid to late December) and I will do my best to keep the information up-to-date on this blog.
